The Amazon Kindle has been the big boy on the block for a while now, but with the release of the Sony PRS-600 and its little brother, the Sony PRS-300, there may be a challenger coming to town. While the details are still a little sketchy, a few things have been confirmed. Most recently the device itself was confirmed by Sony. However, some leaked details gave a little bit more information about what they offer. And some of the things these new ebook readers claim to do may have Amazon sweating a little. The first consideration that would get people more than a bit curious is the price. Released only in February, the Kindle 2 is now priced at $299. It is also only the 2nd latest version with the entry of the Kindle DX in May. The Sony PRS-600 is rumored to be available at the same price when it hits the stores. The pricing scheme is apparently designed to appeal to those who find the Kindle DX to pricey yet want a newer model than the Kindle 2. Sony has also made it known that new ebook releases will be sold at $9.99, the same price for which Kindle books are selling. Based on prices, the Sony is bent on offering as much value for money as the Kindle. Leaked portions of the manual hint at what the new ebook readers may have to offer. One feature that stands out is the touch screen. Available on top end models like the $1,000 FLEPia, the touch screen helps to clear up some more space that buttons would otherwise occupy. It also means the device can be even smaller and lighter. Even with a 6 inch screen, it would still only weigh about 10 ounces. And at just .4 inches thick, it is one of the most compact, yet advanced, readers that you will be able to find.Another rumored feature that has made the Sony Reader more anticipated is the possibility that it has a flexible screen. Although nothing has been confirmed by Sony with regards to this, the manual does mention that the device has many flexible parts. One of the theories being floated around is that it may have a bendable and unbreakable screen, which would certainly be a breakthrough technology. The introduction of Sony PRS-600 as well as Sony PRS-300 can be very intriguing and interesting. The PRS-600 includes a built-in dictionary, a stylus freehand writing feature and a library suite software which can be supported by an ordinary PC and Mac. With 380MB storage capacity, it can also expand its battery life for about 7,500 pages. With such an impressive array of features and With the indications that these models will soon be available for a reasonable price, consumers might just put off purchasing a Kindle 2 until the release of Sony PRS-600.

How does the Sony PRS-600 measure up to the Amazon Kindle 2? Visit us to read the detailed Amazon Kindle 2 review and find out for yourself. You’ll be able to watch the device in action to discover how it stacks up against other ebook readers like those made by Sony.

Those who currently own the original Kindle 1 and are looking to upgrade to Amazon’s newer model could be in for some nasty surprises as this article will show. Many such Kindle 2 users had to face a number of difficulties after paying $359 to upgrade. For example:You cannot transfer your stored content directly from your computer to the new device. Amazon would have to reformat all the files for the Kindle 2 before you can download it to the new device. If you have purchased content from the Amazon store, it is advisable to back this up on your computer because there is no guarantee you will be able to download it again. Some books may no longer be available and Amazon does not retain copies of any newspaper subscriptions for longer than 6 days either. The new Kindle does not have any memory slots so it does not support SD memory as before. This will no doubt make organizing content difficult, and it moreover places a limitation on how much content you can store in the new device. The new Kindle does not offer the convenience of the Jump Ahead or Jump Back features. If the Table of Contents fails to work which is not untypical, you could very well have to click through many pages before getting to the page you want. The batteries cannot easily be replaced without voiding the warranty. The only safe solution then is to fork out an additional $65 for an extended warranty for the privilege of being able to send the device after one year to have its batteries replaced.Your reading experience won’t be as easy on the eyes as you may expect. Some users attribute it to the silver grey screen that the K2 has. There is also that bothersome glare from any source of light that when reflected on the device’s screen on certain angles, doesn’t quite make for a pleasurable reading experience. You can’t expect any favors from Amazon just because you’re an original Kindle owner. Sorry, no discounts for an upgrade to the new model are offered.Don’t misinterpret what I write here. It’s just that original Kindle 1 users should know what to expect when upgrading to Kindle 2 and not be caught out especially if they have a lot of content stored in it. Despite its limitations and the potential complications in making the transition, both Kindles are prized gadgets in the ebook industry. Amazon’s Kindles are great devices that are well worth owning.

And with the newest portable ebook reader from Amazon recently launched — the Kindle DX, find out what incredible changes have been made in the Kindle DX vs Kindle 2 comparison.

If you would be spending for about $300 for a particular device, you would like to make sure that you can also get something to protect it. And if you would like to get something that is worth a try when it comes to protecting your gadget, you can check out the M Edge Kindle cover to keep it protected. You can be assured that your gadget is protected from bumps and scratches with its leather pocket and internal pockets which serve as added padding to protect your Kindle device from any possible damage. But if you have heard horror stories about some leather covers actually being the cause of damage to the Kindle, you might be a little wary. Fortunately, the M Edge Kindle cover poses no such threat. What it does offer is a much higher quality feel that other similarly priced covers. Sure, you can spend over $100 on a cover that would rival most designer handbags, but not everyone wants to shell out that kind of money for something that is intended to take the damage the Kindle would otherwise sustain. Since the price is low, you won’t feel so bad if your cover does get a scratch or two. After all, that’s why you bought it. You will get plenty of utility from this cover, but you also get a look and feel that you would expect to pay a lot more for. What you won’t get is the slim attractive look of the Kindle anymore. The cover, although great for protecting the Kindle, does add a great deal of heft. The overall size increases quite a bit and it noticeable when you close the Kindle with the cover on. You also add a bit of weight to the e-reader. If you really love the sleek look of your Kindle, this may not be very appealing to you.If you’re looking for some worthy alternatives to the M Edge, think twice before setting your sights on the Amazon leather cover. The issue with this cover goes beyond mere aesthetics – it can cause damage to your Kindle! The hinge system of Amazon’s cover while unique, is known to have caused damaged to the device in some rare instances. The M Edge Kindle cover may have none of that modern “spine” of the Amazon cover, but it protects the Kindle in the old yet effective way.

See the M Edge Kindle cover in action before you buy! Visit us to see the video presentation of this popular leather cover for the Amazon Kindle 2. You’ll be able to tell if it is really the best cover available! You’ll also have access to a ton of information on ebook reading devices including reviews and videos.

In the past decade or so, there had been many failed attempts at making our reading become smoother and faster. That’s until online book retailer Amazon came along and again made the difference in enhancing the reading experience, with a reading device called the Kindle Electronic Book Reader.

In deft fashion, its extraordinary features for reading are complemented by its novel way of acquiring the very content. This wonder of a product was launched as the Amazon Kindle Portable Reader. The handy reading device has the capability to download books, blogs, magazines, and newspapers in pioneering the new-wave reading. Before the dedicated e-book devices, reading used to be done through thumbing the pages of a book. Readers today have the electronic option which is mobile, flexible and user-friendly.

Unlike other funky devices, the Kindle does not require a personal computer to download its media. Furthermore, syncing is smart and automatic. This electronic book reader is equipped with internet capability through 3G technology on which the Amazon Whispernet service is rendered. This feature comes with the purchase of the reader so users don’t have to concern themselves with the wireless service plan, contract, or bills thereafter. Whispernet is also Amazon’s wireless delivery system. If you have a book in mind that you want to read, you can obtain it within a minute via this system. Customers are also allowed to download and go through the first few pages of the books for free. If you decide to buy it, you can then proceed to purchase and download it with a single click directly on your Kindle.

The Kindle is a compact paperback-sized reader and you can carry a library of books around with it but still travel light. Appearance-wise, this portable reader is as impressive as its capabilities. The crisp black-and-white screen could easily be mistaken for some fine-grade printed paper. The high-tech virtual ink is designed to be just like real ink-on-paper in terms of appearance and readability so much so that there is no backlighting either. Therefore, it would not be difficult to read in bright sunlight and the screen never heats up so you don’t have to limit how long you should be reading on that account.

Additionally, Whispernet leverages on Amazon’s optimized technology plus Sprint’s national high-speed (EVDO) data network for its users to wirelessly search, discover, download, and read content on the spot. The original Kindle Portable eBook Reader is succeeded by an improved edition called Kindle 2. It retains a great deal of the winning features but minus the rough edges of the maiden version.
