Book Readers Reviews – Shopping For eBook Reader?

Many Internet users are interested in electronic book readers right now. These are smart electronic devices that can virtually help you accomplish your book reading goals. They are attracting shoppers from many countries with wireless Internet coverage. Since there are so many options out there, choosing the most suitable eBook reader can be a daunting task. This is why you must read book readers reviews. Although these items are currently in vogue, they have been around for quite sometime.

Most Popular Electronic Book Readers Reviews

New Amazon KindleAmazon Kindle DXBarnes & Noble NookSony PRS-350

To some people, these devices are old news while others are actually just learning about them now. Those who own them are often kind enough to write reviews, describing their experiences and thoughts. By reading book readers reviews, you will discover new hints and clues. As a new shopper, there are very many issues you do not know yet. Reading a product’s features and description provided by the manufacturer is often not good enough to help you make an informed decision.

Customers who previously made a similar buying decision are in a good position to confirm if a given eBook reader is good or bad. One thing you will realize as you look through various testimonials and comments is that shoppers are blunt when giving their opinions. If a product is worthwhile, you can already tell that the majority of reviewers share positive experiences only. If it not really good or bad, they will write both advantages and disadvantages of the item.

In case an item is actually a waste of time and money, the book readers reviews will sound negative. In other words, you can easily notice if previous shoppers were disappointed in their gadgets or not. Another thing you will discover are tips on how to use a product effectively. Even with an instruction manual, some people still face difficulties in understanding some features. You can find review articles that focus on how to tips on using, buying, troubleshooting and so on.

The only thing you have to do is search websites that essentially post helpful content. Most of the sites invite clients to give their opinions regarding the products they bought from them. Others do not sell anything; their work is researching and appraising products, and related brands. By simply typing the phrase, book readers reviews on your best search engine, you will get countless results. There are so many reviewers over the Internet that you could easily feel lost while choosing the few you could depend on.

The best thing you can do in such circumstances is to rely on your intuition and personal judgment. Read a few posts for the products you want to buy and see if that helps. Most new shoppers usually have very little information when looking for products they have never used before. That is why product images and brand names accompany most reliable book readers reviews. This helps all clients compare different manufacturers of electronic book reading devices. Some of the most popular electronic eBook Readers include the Amazon Kindle, and Barnes & Noble Nook. There are several others that you will discover while perusing those review articles.

Ipad Ebooks ? Protect Ebook Readers With Screen And Case Protection

It is just as important to protect eBook readers with screen and case protection as it is to protect any other hand-held device such as your iPhone. As e-readers such as Amazon’s Kindle and the Sony reader have become more popular, a wave of accessories has also ridden on that tide of popularity. Among the more useful of these is a variety of cases and covers to protect both the screen and the case of these eBook readers, although some are more useful than others.

Download Unlimited Ebooks,Comics,NewsPaper and Much More for Your iPad!

One of the disadvantages of the large screens that are now being used in many devices is that they are very prone to scratching, and this can interfere with the ease of reading them. Since their primary purpose is to be read, then it is little wonder that people are turning to screen protection as an essential, and to case protection as a secondary protection. Generally both will come together, although it is possible to purchase them separately.

Good screen protection has to do more than just protect the screen from scratches. It must also be as unobtrusive as possible, and not just appear almost invisible but also enhance the properties of the original screen. Take the iPad, for example. This is not a dedicated e-reader, but a multifunctional device also intended for games and watching videos. It therefore has a touchscreen LCD display that is subject to glare: not so good for reading eBooks.

The same could be true of other e-reader screens, so when buying screen protection you should not only be considering protection from scratching, but also anti-glare properties that do not interfere with the clarity required for DVDs and games. That is for the iPad, of course, and you might have different factors to consider for the Nook or the Kindle. For example, as it is described in the article “How To Enhance Your E-Reader With The Best Accessories”, the Patagonia Book Case gives perfect protection for Amazon Kindle – this case is an eco-conscious recycled polyester shell, functional and fashionable choice (dbReaders).

There are several good screen protectors available for dedicated e-readers, among them Boxwave’s ClearTouch on sale from to , but you must beware of the very cheap protectors under that might not offer very much protection – possible against fingerprints, but not much else! Two-piece screen protectors are good, in that one offers good anti-glare properties and will also protect eBook readers from scratches and dust.

Reviews & Comparison of E-book Readers

Read the review about Electronic Book Reader which is an electronic device that is designed primarily for the purpose of reading digital books and periodicals and uses e-ink technology to display content to readers. This review is comparison of features of these Ebook Readers. The main advantage of these devices is portability, readability of their screens in bright sunlight, and long battery life. Compare different type of E-book readers with their most advanced features.

Kindle 2: The kindle 2 has text-to speech, the kindle store and has faster page turns than the original Kindle. There is no color, just shades of grey on this Kindle model. With new features like better grayscale rendering, USB charging, longer battery life, faster page turns and a new text-to-speech option, the Kindle 2 really has become more convenient and more useful.

Kindle DX: The Amazon Kindle DX was released with a lot of hype. A large screen and instant download of content gives this product an advantage over others. The Kindle DX has a slower reaction time and is one of the heaviest eReaders available.

BeBook Neo: The Neo offers up to 16GB storage and Wacom touch screen technology. No dedicated content service is available on the Neo. The open market, comfortable design and large storage make reading enjoyable using the Neo.

Alex eReader: The color LCD screen allows for multimedia features such as music, wi-fi and the ability to watch movies. The Alex eReader does not provide 3G connectivity and the on-screen keyboard is difficult to type on.

Screen Protection

For example, as it is described in the article “How To Enhance Your E-Reader With The Best Accessories“, the Patagonia Book Case gives perfect protection for Amazon Kindle – this case is an eco-conscious recycled polyester shell, functional and fashionable choice (dbReaders).

Case Protection

Screen protectors protect the screen, but do not protect eBook readers from damage to the case or the electronics should it be dropped or banged. Protective cases are available for most makes of e-reader, some made from aluminum and other from plastic or rubberized compounds. If you work in a harsh environment or where your e-reader can easily be subject to being dropped or hit in some way, the aluminum cover would be best.

The Guardian Case from M-Edge not only offers impact protection, but also waterproofs your Kindle to a depth of 1 meter. It seals off all the buttons, but still allows you to read it and use the functions. This is due for launch very shortly (Spring 2010). The same store offers a number of different cases in leather and neoprene for the Sony eReader, the Nook and also the iPad.

Leather cases offer a good quality feel to your e-reader and are available in a number of colors, and neoprene covers offer the option of bright, funky colors and are also available in ‘universal’ models that fit most sizes of eBook reader.

E-Reader Sleeves

An alternative to the e-reader covers are sleeves, where the reader slides into the sleeve so that it is fully protected with just one side open. They suffer the disadvantage that the device is taken out of the sleeve when in use, and is therefore no longer protected, but the advantage is that it is offered more protection than a case when not in use.

The penalty for not using some form of case protection is that an accident can result in you losing the entire contents of your e-reader, and unless you have a back-up on your computer then you could lose a significant amount of money. Also, the lack of screen protection could end up with your eBooks being very difficult to read because large numbers of tiny scratches will scatter the light and make the screen appear very dull to the extent that it can become unreadable.

You should protect eBook readers with screen and case protection to maintain their clean crisp appearance. The cases and covers are easily replaced at low cost, but not the original screen and not the e-reader itself – so don’t compromise your device and its contents for the sake of a relatively small amount of money.

E-paper Reader 2009 product test report – electronic paper, readers, test report – Printing Industry

Published by the China Publication Science Institute Laboratory of organizing the implementation of the national figure of “2009 Electronic (Paper) Reader test report “on the 3rd official release. The survey lasted for 2 months, on the market, including Hanwang, Kindle, Hanlin, Sony, IRex, Fu Xin (Foxit), paragraph 11, including brands such as domestic and international mainstream electronic (paper), readers were tested. Should be said that electronic (paper) reader is the most important digital publishing products, and placed the industry in upgrading the traditional publishing industry, the technological revolution of the earnest hope, but also the objective of such products there is good and bad quality, function Design Not humane, high prices and lack of content resources and other practical problems. In this sense, evaluation of products and industries that is a cool review, evaluation results are actually electronic (paper), the important parameters of reader development.

The beginning and ending time of the test in October 2009 to 12 months, testing the selected Hanwang D21, Kindleglobal, Longyuan Reader (M218C +), KindleDX, Hanwang N518, Hanlin V5, Hanlin V3, SonyPRS- 600, Sony PRS-300, Foxit eSlickFE-01 in 11 basic models-to-market for the second half of 2008 to October 2009. The test increased life time of testing, the test results from the show, supported formats, life time, use the function, the market price five aspects of electronic (paper) reader to the testing and evaluation. Interpretation of test results

Ranking: domestic brands have obvious advantages

From a comprehensive ranking of view, domestic brands of electronic (paper) reader has a clear advantage. The top three, the domestic brands accounted for two seats, which ranks first in the domestic reader Hanwang D21, ranked third in the Long Yuan Reader (M218C +). It is worth noting, however, this test involves only comprehensive ranking display, supported formats, functions and life time of four categories of indicators, not including industrial design and resource platform, but also does not include market prices, then three in the electronic (paper ) reader Sell Has obvious influence.

To Kindle, for example, Kindle’s industrial design as a higher standard, also has extensive electronic resources in the Amazon, together with its mature business model, consumers still can not shake the position of the eyes. But if we consider the price factor of the anti Reader (M218C +) with its low-end strategy will perform better. In addition, even Kindle, do not have the electronic (paper), the core of the screen reader technology, but rather to purchase third-party technologies assembled into their products; the view from the domestic brands, Hanwang handwriting technology with independent intellectual property rights .

Use the feature, supported formats: domestic and foreign brands have different emphases

Domestic and foreign products will have different starting points to show their own characteristics: focus on a full-featured domestic brands, foreign brands focus on resource development and copyright protection.

In the first test, the foreign brands to support the format generally small, the main reason is similar to the Amazon Kindle this product has its own proprietary resource platform to promote their own e-book sales, but also for the protection of copyright, more emphasize the application of proprietary formats; domestic brands due to a hardware platform vendors and resources have often not one, so pay more attention to support for various formats. After a year of development, however, the number of domestic and foreign products in support of the format, the gap is narrowing, although the national advantage is still apparent, but foreign brands to support a substantial increase in the number format is still impressive, many of whom already have a proprietary product platform resources . In the domestic new generation of products, the proprietary format and has a DRM (Digital Rights Management ) Technology has certainly increased the number format, indicating manufacturers are beginning to realize copyright protection on the importance of this industry.

But in the present situation, still can not determine resources to build their own proprietary platforms and a variety of compatible formats only two hardware development model is superior.

E-ink display technology into an absolute dominant

A variety of display technologies compared to last year’s crowded, 2009 E-ink technology is almost dominated the entire electronic (paper) screen reader market. The test product, only 11 models a product of non-E-ink screen with high-precision static white TFT.

Widely used international standard, national standard has not yet formed

International standard text formats such as PDF, TXT 11 models participating in testing the products direct reading rate of 100% in PDF format, the test compared to the first edition in 2008 to increase the proportion of direct reading of nearly 60%, while the other international standard formats such as DOC, EPUB, also has improved significantly, over 50%, which showed that the international standard text format is widely used in industry. In Taiwan, the content is not yet form a unified format standard, although many kinds of proprietary text format, but more for the manufacturers themselves develop their own use, to be used was not high, even owns 80% of e-books resources Founder Apabi company, its format is only Hanwang 1 product support.

Comparison of relative prices, domestic brands are too expensive

Domestic product prices from the perspective of the anti Reader (M218C +), Foxit eSlickFE-01, Imperial V5, Hanlin V3, Hanwang D21, Hanwang N518 of the market price were 1,399 yuan, 1,800 yuan, 1,900 yuan , 2200 yuan, 2580 yuan, 2980 yuan, and 13,843 yuan of national income per capita compared to the price too high. And several foreign products are IRexDR1000S-XW-GR higher prices, about 5,916 yuan (870 U.S. dollars), SonyPRS-300, Sony PRS-600, Kindleglobal, KindleDX converted into RMB in the price of 1,360 yuan (199.99 U.S. dollars) , 2040 yuan (299.99 U.S. dollars), 1,761 yuan (259 dollars), 3,325 yuan (489 U.S. dollars) and its tens of thousands of dollars compared to the national per capita income, relative prices than the price of domestic brands are much lower.

Industry Forecast Operators, hardware vendors, content providers will become an important force in the three stocks

2009, China Mobile first to launch TD-SCDMA platform, relying on G3 reader, and with many hardware vendors to reach Cooperation Intention, Datang, Kingship, also has been equipped with China Mobile 3G launch Network Products. Followed by China Unicom and China Telecom have also expressed interest in the field to get involved in e-book. Has just begun for the domestic 3G network, all operators are looking for high-speed communication networks under the killer application, and content resources will be three carriers compete for land, which have from three to launch its own network of stores could seen. Store information within the network

Detroit MI readers, are you a Slacker when it comes to radio?

The new Slacker Internet player is quickly gaining popularity with its optional station choices. A big reason is because it’s being added to a lot of popular devices like the all-new Samsung Galaxy Tab that is coming out next month. The Galaxy is going to be a rival to the Apple iPad, and Samsung wants to make sure that applications, such as Slacker, are pre-installed and available for its users.

A listener can use Slacker’s pre-made stations such as Alternative, Hip Hop/R & B or Rock and listen to a mixed playlist of songs from those stations. Also there is the choice to create personalized stations which are tailored to the listener. If someone doesn’t know what to listen to or would rather any mix, Slacker also has a Now Playing station which plays like the radio.

All a Detroit MI music buff has to do is create a profile for free music listening. There are also options to subscribe to avoid having to listen to advertisements, enjoy unlimited song skips and also get full lyrics for all songs.

A great new feature for those who love the news, ABC now has its own station on Slacker with main news stories being played throughout the day.

Plus, take Slacker on the go by adding it to any portable device like a smartphone or any device with Wi-Fi. Get Slacker on a television or other Internet Connectable devices: Logitech Squeezebox, RCA Infinite Radio, Sony BRAVIA Internet Video Link, and the Sony Network Blu-ray Disc Player. Even enjoy Slacker on the Amazon Kindle.

MI Auto Times will make sure to keep all Slackers up-to-date with new tools and need-to-know technology so they won’t have to worry about it.

7 Reasons Why Universities Should Make Textbooks Available on eBook Readers

There are numerous Universities and Libraries now researching how to revolutionize the way people read and study. The eBook Reader, an electronic device that can easily be carried with an individual like a traditional book, is an integral part of this cutting-edge technology. The Reader is typically smaller than a basic book and reads any documents that you might normally read from a computer. The eReader can hold multiple documents and therefore would totally eliminate the need for students to carry around multiple textbooks at one time.

In addition, students are often working with a number of electronic documents for research projects and this would eliminate the need to access a computer to review the documents. Handouts, term papers, forms, spreadsheets, and a number of other documents are often carried around from place to place by the student. Almost all of the weight of the textbooks could be lightened and almost virtually eliminated by the eReader. They typical machine weighs about 10 ounces – less than one college textbook.

Asked for his views on eBooks in education, Keir Graff, Senior Editor of Booklist Online responded “How long do you have? Personally, I think they make great sense for school and for reference.” (Direct Contact PR)

Listed below are 7 reasons why the Universities should consider converting textbooks to eBook Readers:

Elimination of Certain Health Problems

Back problems are becoming more and more prevalent in young adults and many people in the medical profession are attributing this to book bags. Years of carrying heavy books on one’s back can certainly take its toll – even on the younger, more healthy individual. This could be virtually eliminated with a Reader. Any one who has carried a heavy load for hours at a time can certainly empathize with the desire to lighten one’s load.

Ease of Use

Many people jump to an area of interest in a textbook or a specific assigned chapter. This is not an uncommon practice and is something that would not be prohibited when using a Reader. Current Readers in the marketplace provide great simplicity when searching for a specific topic or scanning for a topic of interest.

Read To Me Feature

Many of the newest machines have a read-to-me feature which offers many advantages to the student of today. If the student is traveling to and from class or simply cooking dinner or doing activity that permits listening, the specific document, lesson, or information could be read aloud to them which would allow for multi-tasking and more production. When traveling long distances in a car, this benefit could be even more effectively utilized.

Great Storage Space

Many of the most popular Readers provide storage space to accommodate around 1500 books. This would allow the student to have textbooks, term papers, research documents, and even novels for pleasure reading all in one simple location.

Sense of Familiarity

Although some baby boomers seem to want to touch and feel the real book, the generation of today, is far more familiar with holding an electronic device in their hand. Thus, the eBook Reader would not only be comfortable but familiar to the college student today.

Create Space in the Dorm Room or Small Apartment

Any student who is trying to figure out how to create more living space in a dormitory or small apartment would certainly appreciate the benefits of a Reader. No longer would students sharing an area have to find a place to locate all those textbooks, papers, and documents when space is already at a premium.

Cost

By producing eBooks, the university could reduce their overall cost. Ebooks would not wear out like textbooks, nor would the university have to be concerned about books being sold back or leased books returned. This cost savings could be passed down to the student.

Although there are still a few issues to be worked out with having eBook Readers for college students, the pros probably by far outweigh the cons. One issue that is being considered is how one might be able to simulate highlighting or writing in certain areas of the eBook. Many users would find that appealing since it is a study technique that has been utilized for many generations.

Another issue is of copyright and lending from university libraries. The Harold B. Lee Library, the main campus library of Brigham Young University, has acquired Amazon Kindles as a pilot for lending to students. One of the problems is that Amazon states that it is not permitted to lend them, and although Amazon reps have verbally given the nod, this was not put in writing.

According to John Biggs, Technology Writer for The New York Times, “eBooks are the future. The Kindle and devices like it will replace printed text in the next 30 years.”

Only time will tell whether John is right, and whether or not the universities are willing to totally implement cutting edge technology such as the eBook Reader. Their terms of use could be key in their decision. One thing is for sure, however: the changes it would provide for the students are immense and vast, and certainly worth consideration.

Kindle Books Are More Important Than Kindle Readers To Amazon

Since its launch in November 2007, the Kindle electronic book reader has been a great product for Amazon. Amazon’s strong association with both books and electronics was a marriage made in heaven and the Kindle, after an upgrade to Kindle 2.0 in February of 2009 followed by the introduction of the large display Kindle DX model in the summer of the same year, went on to become Amazon’s top selling product.

Over the 2009 festive season, the Kindle reader became the most gifted Amazon item ever – and, on Christmas day 2009, the number of Kindle book downloads was greater than the number of physical books sold for the first time ever. This was more than likely due to people who were lucky enough to find a Kindle under the tree experimenting with their new readers – and many of the books downloaded would have been free – but it was still a landmark event for both Amazon and the Kindle.

Amazon did seem to be a slightly reluctant manufacturer on occasions however. They went out of their way to make sure that Kindle books could be read without a Kindle reader. At the moment, Amazon has released free Kindle “Apps” for a wide variety of different devices – many of which would be considered to be the Kindle’s competitors. These include the PC, the Apple Mac, the iPod Touch, the iPhone, the iPad, the Blackberry smart phone and any device running Android. Amazon looked to be their own competition at times.

However, the method in Amazon’s madness became clear after the release of the Apple iPad. This saw the price of e-book readers fall as many consumers rushed to buy Apple’s new device which, amongst its many functions, was suitable for use as an e-book reader. However, although the price of e-book reader hardware was falling, the average price of the e-books to read on these devices was rising.

The main reason behind this was the deal which Apple had negotiated with the big publishing houses prior to the iPad’s launch. This allowed publishers to fix the price for the e-book versions of their publications at whatever level they wished – under the condition that the e-book wouldn’t be sold at a lower price for use with any other reader – the Kindle for example. Amazon’s policy of pricing e-books at $ 9.99 or less was pretty well destroyed overnight – it was starting to look as if the iPad wasn’t just a “Kindle Killer” but that it was going to put paid to Amazon’s plans for Kindle books as well.

However, upon closer examination, Amazon’s release of Kindle Apps for so many different devices starts to make a lot of sense. Each App is actually an outlet for Kindle books – and with a higher average e-book price, Amazon will be able to sell Kindles for less but still make money over the lifetime of the reader by selling their Kindle books at higher prices. Even if the iPad were to totally decimate Kindle sales – an unlikely event – Kindle books will keep selling. And, should some other mobile computer, smart phone or reader come along then there will no doubt be “an app for that” as well.

IPad against Kindle and Other EBook Readers – Which is Better?

Here is much rumor on the internet with the intention of the new to the job revolutionary iPad bidding crush the Kindle DX. Or the iPad was scheduled to launch here was a fortune of conversation just about how the iPad may possibly help newspaper, magazine and charge publishers create new to the job revenue and swell profits.

The new to the job Apple iPad has answered these publishers’ questions of how to swell revenues by offering the iPhone Kindle devotion. Many of the applications produced in support of the iPhone machinery very well with the iPad too. Since Apple has extra experience creating compatible applications the Amazon warehouse and the creators of Kindle may well get something to be concerned just about. Although Kindle has made many changes from their earliest version relying on their association with the Amazon warehouse to keep consumers interested may well not take place a lengthy lasting benefit once consumers try the new to the job iPad. Fortunately in support of Kindle users they bidding take place able to try Apple’s new to the job iPad in support of boundless. Keep performance this article to gather how you can progress a new to the job iPad of your own by thumbs down cost.

The Apple Corporation has an incredible offer in support of iPad users. Into replace in support of signing a monthly contract in support of service in support of your iPad the entrance to the internet bidding take place opened. The extra than 34,000 iPod lay a hand on apps bidding take place made unfilled to you; and incredible to the same extent it may well seem, built-in into this offer bidding take place the Amazon Kindle APP. Wretched Kindle but here may well take place a new to the job Sheriff into town…

Although the creators of Kindle may well soon start to sweat; Amazon won’t take place too upset just about the new to the job iPad. Amazon bidding still take place able to offer e-books in support of garage sale to the same extent well to the same extent e-textbooks, too. Since Apple has for all time had a powerful association with many universities and colleges, we are convinced we bidding catch a glimpse of edifying discounts to help promote the iPad to the same extent a new to the job virtual textbook. The merely publishers who may well take place hurting into the come up to prospect may well take place the magazine and newspaper corporations who everywhere in suspense to bother the Kindle wave a tad longer.

An additional fantastic story of the iPad bidding take place the devotion in support of watching movies; think of it to the same extent a widescreen version of the iPod. The built into speakers bidding exhibit to take place a valuable part of your on-line show experience. So to think of the new to the job iPad to the same extent much extra than a puffed up netbook; it’s a fully functioning tablet-style mainframe. The Apple Corporation has one time again provided us with a revolutionary manufactured goods which is whispered to get the skill to modify the way we consumption computers into the come up to prospect.

Battle for the eBook Readers: iPad vs. Kindle

When Amazon released the world’s first dedicated eBook reader, everybody was wide-eyed in anticipation. The Amazon Kindle allowed you to buy, collect and read as many as 1,500 books in a device that was lighter than a regular paperback. Since then, many manufacturers have come up with their own eBook readers, including Apple, who decided to give fans an all-in-one device with the Apple iPad.

With iBook, the iPad’s dedicated eBook reader, it looks like the competition for ebook supremacy is getting fiercer. Let’s see how the Kindle and Apple’s new kid on the block matches up when it comes to ebook functionality.

The Pros of the iPad as an eBook Reader

Priced at 9 (for the base model), the iPad is an all-in-one entertainment and multimedia gadget with its functionality as an eBook reader just the icing on the cake. By installing iBook, you turn your iPad into a virtual library that can hold 32 to 64 gigs of your favorite fiction. With its multi-touch functionality, the iPad allows you to “flip” through pages, much like a real book. It also has all the functions of the Kindle–from letting you bookmark and search pages to having a handy dictionary you can use on the fly. iBook also shows you how many pages are left before the chapter is over, so you can determine good stopping points if you have something else to do.

The Cons of the iPad as an eBook Reader

The pros being said, there are some features that Kindle fans will miss in the iPad. For one, some users have reported that there is considerable eyestrain while reading ebooks for long periods of time on an iPad–something they did not experience with Kindle. The iPad is also heavier than the Kindle at 1.5 pounds and books purchased from iBook are encrypted in a format that can only be read on your Apple iPad.

The Pros of the Amazon Kindle

With its E-Ink display, reflective screen and dense pixilation of its text, the Kindle is easier on the eyes than the Apple iPad. You can spend hours reading eBooks on the Kindle without straining your eyes. In addition, its battery can last for 2 weeks and it is also as light as a thick comic book, making it easier to carry around than the iPad. Has your Kindle run out of batteries right at an exciting part in your favorite book? No sweat. Simply continue reading from your computer–since you can read Kindle books on different platforms, including the iPad. The Kindle is also cheaper than the iPhone, at 9 and it has more titles (450,000 books and counting).

The Cons of the Amazon Kindle

The Kindle is just what it is–an eBook reader. It doesn’t have a speedy browser, it doesn’t have thousands of cool applications and it doesn’t have Bluetooth or WiFi. You can’t play graphically enhanced games in it, nor can you watch movies or videos on the Kindle.

Comparing the Amazon Kindle with the iPad might be a case of, well, apples and oranges. Both devices cater to totally different sets of needs. Do you want an eBook reader that does its job exceptionally well or do you want a handy tablet that can do almost everything that your laptop can do, including download eBooks? We hope that our detailed list of the pros and cons of both devices help you make your decision.

Kindle Readers For Those On The Go

Kindle was first released by Amazon in 2007 and it is still rated the #1 best selling product on Amazon today.

With an updated operating platform, a sleek new design, and a huge selection of ebooks and news feeds to read, it’s no wonder everyone is clamoring over the next new thing in e-reading technology.

If you aren’t sure if a Kindle is right for you or if you are on the fence about purchasing an Amazon Kindle e-reader, here’s a few reasons why I love my Kindle and why I think you would like a Kindle, too.

No More Carpel Tunnel, No More Bookmarks

OK, I admit. Losing bookmarks probably isn’t the first thing that comes to people’s minds when asked why they love their Kindle. But really, how many times have you had to put down your book and came back a day later and it was knocked off the shelf…laying on the floor with no more bookmark. Many of us with good memories could probably start right where we left off. But for others, it’s an annoying process.

But aside of the slight annoyance of bookmarking, the Kindle is easy to read and light on the hands. For those with joint pain, arthritis, or carpel tunnel, they don’t have to struggle with holding books in awkward positions. They can simply curl up on the couch and place the Kindle in their lap! Plus, you can take the Kindle anyplace with you – on an airplane, to a doctor’s appointment (no more outdated waiting room magazines!), or even on vacation. No more heavy books or getting to your destination only to be suddenly be disinterested with what you brought. You can simply turn on the e-reader and find an interesting title or article or news headline.

The iPhone Has Nothing on the Kindle

Many people do not know that you can also listen to music on the Kindle! For those multi-taskers who like a little background noise when enjoying their favorite book can plug in their headphones and jam away while reading their favorite books or magazines online. Music can be stored on the Kindle in mp3 format. Plus, this opens up an amazing new topic – audio books! Let’s say you are reading a gripping thriller and just can’t wait to get home and read the rest. Once you get in your car to trek home, simply press a button and your ebook will continue in audio format. Amazing, I know. This was one of my top reasons for springing for a Kindle.

Do Your Eyes a Favor…

Unlike back-lit computer screens that can cause uncomfortable eye pain, the Kindle is easy on the eyes and won’t strain your eye muscles like a computer would. You can also choose to change font sizes and most people get so enraptured with how Kindle’s pages look so much like traditional hard-copy books that they forget they are reading on a Kindle.

You Can Get Free Stuff

Not like Amazon won’t keep you busy with thousands of titles available, but if you’re a bargain hunter there are tons of website that have free Kindle swag to keep your wallet and eyes happy. No more waiting around for your favorite title to become available at the library – it’s right there when you need it with the Amazon Kindle.

The Amazon Kindle 2 was recently announced and is now shipping to consumers with a sleek new form factor and some other hardware improvements to make it the most compelling ebook reader on the market. The Whispernet wireless service and on-device Amazon store front set the device apart from the rest of the pack, but there are even more subtle improvements that make this 9 device a must have for book fans and gadget geeks.

For the past few years, lots of attempts were made to ascertain ways and means to make our reading experience easy and exciting. It is with this aspect in mind that Amazon, the highly acclaimed online e-book seller came up with an e-book reader that can well change the accepted methods of reading books forever. Not only do these new age reading devices have some amazing features, they have original and resourceful means through which the content meant for reading can be located, tracked and also bought right off the internet.

This remarkable product has been named as the Amazon Kindle electronic reader. A unique feature of this device is its ability to download blogs, books, newspapers and magazines, something that has brought a radical change in the way we do our reading. Before the advent of e-book readers, reading was usually done by flipping over the pages of a book. But all this has changed, as we now have the e-Book readers which are very simple to use, and easy to carry. A mere touch is enough to turn the page over.

Another useful feature of the Kindle e-book reader is that a PC or internet connection for using it is not necessary. It can be operated on any 3G networks, quite similar to those used by mobile phones. If you want to buy content for reading, you can do so by activating the exceptional Amazon Whispernet option available in this reader. This product also has an automatic inter-device affinity. It is similar to internet connection but is not confined to the Wi-Fi hotspots. In addition you do not have to worry about service plans, monthly subscriptions or contract, as the bill is paid by Amazon.

Whispernet comprises the Amazon’s wireless communication technology. If you’ve a book in mind that you prefer to read, you can get it within a minute through this system. Clients are permitted to download and go through a few pages of the books, free of charge. Whenever you resolve to purchase a book, you will be able to buy and download it through a single click, straightaway on your Kindle.

The Kindle constitutes a small highly packed together paperback-sized reader and enables you to take a library of books along, but without any load. For instance, the Kindle 2 weighs just about 10 ounces but can carry an amazing number of e-books, 1500 to be precise. That should be enough to take care of your reading for quite sometime.

In appearance the Kindle electronic e-Book reader features a sharp black and white screen that gives an identical visual aspect like that of printed material. The print is revealed by E-ink technology which gets itself combined with light in the same way as ink in writing causes. No backlighting is used. Therefore, reading wouldn’t be difficult in a sunny weather, as the projection screen never becomes warm, signifying that you will be able to read as long as you want without hurting your eyes.

In addition, Whispernet depends upon Amazon’s improved technology plus the Sprint’s national high-speed (EVDO) information network that enables its users to explore, attain, download, and read content through the wireless system on the spot. A new and improved version of the reader, known as the Kindle 2 has been recently launched. This version is more sophisticated and easy to use.

An even more sophisticated version, the Kindle DX is also on sale. This device is loaded with a whole range of features so convenient that you will be amazed how you could ever manage without the device all this while.

We are a Vancouver, Canada based Electronic Reader company. We sell great E-Readers such as the Kindle 2, Kindle DX and Barnes and Noble Nook.

E-Book readers are little devices that make a big impact on the way you read books. They are small enough to fit your pocket, and large enough to carry the whole library. Now, you can never get caught without your favorite book! You wanted to be the early Christmas shopper and treat yourself to a digital portable reading device. What has delayed the purchase is the fact that several e-book readers are vying both for your attention and for shelf-space. You need to stop and think, before you choose.

E-book reader is not something which you should wait to buy at a whopping discount in a sale. You need to carefully peruse the features and pick the one that seems tailored for you.

If you field the question, ‘Which is the best e-book reader in the market?’, the responses will be as varied as the number of similar devices to hit the shelves. The answer lies in your ability and desire to do some research. If you are not in a mood to do a comparative study on your own, read on, this can help.

Let’s do a run through the leaders of the pack: Kindle 2 and Kindle DX from Amazon,
the Nook from Barnes and Noble and Sony’s Touch edition.

If you will choose an e-book reader to fit your pocket literally and otherwise, then the lowest price is Kindle 2, priced at $259 and the one that comes closest to it is the Touch edition from Sony at $300. Next up is Nook at $349 and the Kindle DX walks tall at $489.

The screen size is 6inches for all except the Kindle DX, which has a 9.7 inch screen. Having the largest display, the DX boasts of great resolution along with auto-rotate screen, changing from portrait to landscape as you rotate it. All of them have an E-ink display, giving it a paper-feel and making reading more natural than staring at a computer screen.

If carrying a whole library or at least getting somewhere close to it, is you criterion, go for Kindle DX which stores a whopping 3500 E-Books. Standing at a moderate level are Kindle 2 and the Nook, with a capacity for 1500 e-books, which is not bad either. Sony’s Touch edition allows you space for 350 e-books.

All three of them have wireless downloads except Sony Touch PRS-600. Since it has no wireless access, you need to download e-books through your computer. However the Touch edition comes with a stylus for jotting quick notes and has a built-in dictionary. It also has an extended battery life, cruising through 7500 page turns.

One of the distinctive features that the Nook has is its ability to share books, in the same vein as lending books to friends. This feature however is not present in both Kindle 2 and DX or the Touch edition.

It is not that there is just one product in the market which you buy, and then the scene is flooded with many more options and you get into buyer’s remorse. All of them are handy and equally portable, ready to travel with you, wherever you choose to go. Take some time out to pamper yourself with something you always wanted. What’s stopping you? Go and take your pick.
